Organization: Biologics Manufacturing and Process Development - BPD Seattle Background: ZymoGenetics, a wholly owned! subsidiary of Bristol-Myers Squibb, has been actively involved in the discovery and development of protein-based therapeutic for more than 25 years. The company is engaged in the discovery and development of novel protein-based products for the prevention or treatment of human disease, and together with the parent company has an extensive pipeline in various stages of research and development.
Position DescriptionThe Research Associate or Associate Scientist will work in the Bio-Process Development department at the Bristol-Myers Squibb Seattle site (ZymoGenetics) and will be responsible for developing scalable and robust E. coli processes to manufacture biologics. The successful candidate will work both independently and in a team environment and will spend significant time working in the laboratory. He/she will be responsible for designing and executing process development experiments, analyzing data and writing reports. Knowledge of microbial expression technology, ! fermentation and recovery process development is preferred. Go! od problem solving, organizational and communication skills are required. Relevant background in some of the following areas is desired: molecular biology, expression technology, strain engineering, high-throughput process development, cell metabolism, fed-batch fermentation, media/feed optimization, process control, primary recovery, protein refold, process scale-up, process characterization, analytical methodology such as HPLC and SDS-PAGE electrophoresis, design of experiments and statistical data analysis.
Qualifications
BS or MS Degree in chemical engineering, biochemical engineering, biological sciences, or related disciplines, with minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
The hiring level will be based on level of education and experience.
