There is one permanent, Talent Staffing Assistant opening with the Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS), Human Resource Division (HRD). This position is located in Olympia, Washington.

This position supports the agency’s mission by assisting the Talent Staffing Specialist, as they attract a diverse and engaged workforce to meet DSHS programs business needs.

Duties:
This position assists other members of the HR Talent Outreach, Staffing and Security Unit by performing the following tasks independently: Log new recruiting requests and assign to a Talent Staf! fing Specialist to initiate contact with the hiring manager an! d begin the recruiting process. Explain the recruiting process to hiring managers. Consult with hiring managers on best practices when contacting, interviewing, and offering the position to candidates. Provide assistance to hiring managers during the interview process by recommending supplemental questions as an additional screening tool, scheduling interviews, coordinating the interview panel, or notifying candidates. Notify candidates of their application status at multiple steps throughout the process, to include not being the preferred candidate for the position.

Retrieve all recruiting documents from the hiring manager, including interview notes, and attach the documents to the recruitment in the automated recruiting system. Close and archive the recruiting activity. Encourage, coach, and support hiring managers to use the automated the on-line recruiting system to initiate requests to fill vacancies, review the referred list of certified candidates and their ! applications, schedule interviews, and inform the Staffing Specialist when the preferred candidate accepts the position. Explain the recruiting process to job seekers. Respond to applicants’ questions about the automated recruiting system, and help resolve applicants problems experienced while applying to positions. Provide training to candidates on using the on-line recruiting system to receive notices of postings, searching for postings, completing applications thoroughly, and attaching documents.

Qualifications:
Required education, experience, skills and abilities:
Four years of office experience including two years of experience in a human resource or related setting;

OR

An equivalent combination of education/experience.

Desired skills and abilities:

Apply the principles of! Plain Talk. Present information in a manner easily understood by groups during meetings or training sessions. Recognize unfair, subjective, or illegal practices during the recruiting, applicant screening, and hiring processes. Effectively work with others in teams or workgroups. Read and interpret Washington Administrative Code, Collective Bargaining Agreements, and agency policies as they apply to recruitment and certification. Prioritize and complete multiple tasks that occur simultaneously. Look beyond symptoms to identify and resolve the root cause of problems. Understand internal agency politics and recognize potential agency-wide impact of decisions and actions. Knowledge of: An automated recruitment system. Appropriate applicant screening tools and practices.
