The following documents are required for your applicant package to be complete. As a temporary employee you may be eligible for health benefits. Duties
Summary
This position is temporary, has a Not-to-Exceed date and will be filled for up to 6 months. The appointment may also end early due to lack of work or funds.
This position is located within a National Forest. The primary purpose of this position involves work in a wide range of warehousing activities that includes receiving, storing, and shipping a variety of supplies, equipment and materials. Duties also include packing and repacking a variety of stock items.
The number and location of positions to be filled will be dependent upon individual until needs.
Some positions will have varying work schedules. Some positions may have irregular and protracted hours of work. Tours of duty include full-time or less than full-time and will involve working weekends or irregular work hours.
The duty station for this position will be at one of the duty locations listed in this announcement. Final determination of duty station will be made by the selecting official at the time of job offer. Salary range as shown is the locality pay area of Rest of U.S. (RUS). Pay rates vary depending on locat ion and may be higher or lower than the amount shown. Please visit the Office of Personnel Managementâs website for additional information on pay rates.
Responsibilities
Loads and unloads shipments from trucks, rail cars, and other material conveyances using equipment such as fork lifts, manual and mechanized pallet jacks, side loaders, stacker cranes, and automated guided vehicles in mechanized warehouses. May operate automated storage vehicles, using remote terminals and keyboards to receive and transit locator data.
Checks, assembles, processes documents, and routes materials and equipment to the correct locations or storage areas.
Verifies or prepares documents eith er manually or by using automated equipment to read, store, track, and prepare materials documentation. Insures correctness of quantities, identification criteria, and labeling. Identifies and reports discrepancies.
Ensures that inventory records are accurate and current. Prepares reports on inventory status. Uses automated equipment to load computerized inventory data, access inventory information and fill item requisitions.
Considers special requirements such as size, weight or mode of transportation when stacking, moving and arranging items on pallets. Uses pallet measuring tools to insure that proper height, weight and other load and storage requirements are met and that damage is prevented.
Packs and/or repacks for shipment and/or storage, a variety of tools, parts, equipment, supplies, printed materials or other items. Considers special requirements such as size, weight or mode of transportation and blocks or braces sensitive materials and equipment. May tape, staple, seal, weigh, and label containers.
Travel Required
Occasional travel - Position(s) may involve work away the official duty location to remote worksites within commuting distance (49 miles) and may also require overnight travel and/or camping per work assignment.
