Graphic Designer/Illustrator Specialist

Location: Seattle Washington

The Graphic Designer/Illustrator Specialist is a part-time (60%) exempt position at the Siegal Center (District Office); the salary range above reflects compensation at the 60% rate.The Graphic Designer is the creative lead and uses design skills and technologies to produce a wide variety of print, electronic and specialty-promotional projects. The Designer is a member of the Public Information Office-Advancement team and reports to the Communications Director.

Essential Functions:
Creative lead on a range of print and online projects, including reports, brochures, flyers, advertising, newsletters and biennial district-wide college catalog; promotional and special event collateral; displays and signage. Create website page designs and coordinate with web developers to adapt designs for district website. Interact and collaborate with a variety of colleague-clients, provide advice on format, options, costs, timeframe. Represent the college district in work with vendors. Research, learn and apply new software and technologies. Maintain graphics office work environment, including electronic and hard files, software and equipment.

Required Education, Experience & Abilities:
Two (2) years of applicable college-level training in graphic/visual design and technology. Minimum three (3) years of experience as a graphic designer, with experience working as creative lead and as part of a team o r, an equivalent combination of training and experience. Proven ability to collaborate effectively with a variety of clients/team members. Experience in both MAC and PC environments. Proficiency with a variety of software, including CS5 (or higher) and Microsoft Office (especially Word, PowerPoint, Outlook). Competency in web page design and experience working with web developers to implement designs. Experience troubleshooting software and hardware.

Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in graphic/visual design or a related field, and four (4) - five (5) years of responsible professional experience that includes establishing and maintaining client relationships and sound business practices. Demonstrated experience working with people of diverse ethnicities, cultures and backgrounds.
