SUMMARY
Manages the overall financial performance of specific programs which are accounted for under both the percentage of completion (POC) method of accounting and capitalized.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Works closely with engineering, program management, and production departments to establish initial program budgets; reviews initial standard costs for reasonableness and maintains historical references of cost and revenue.
Determine, analyze, and report program performance by reviewing approved contracts, all program costs, including manufacturing, engineering and any other specific program expenses. Comp! letes sensitivity analysis on programs as needed.
Pre! pares and presents total program performance combined with variances to last forecast in monthly program reviews and to meet other local and corporate requests.
Interprets the impact of commercial changes within a dynamic environment on the financial performance of a program including preparing and communicating at all levels program risks and opportunities.
Develops strong working relationship with the local Cost Manager in order to ensure early notification of cost deviation to program teams. Brings awareness to key changes such as labor hour trends, material cost changes / risk, or other important cost elements / trends.
Incorporates continuous improvement into every day work and looks for opportunities to remove waste from processes. Works within professional communities to drive standardization of processes.
Develops or uses existing methods to identify, categorize, capture, and report actual costs of program segments (non-recurring ! engineering or recurring production); analyzes and summarizes variances from budget and forecast.
Provide forecasts for key areas of responsibility. Works closely with engineering, program management, and production to ensure forecasts are met (i.e. spending, WIP pulled, etc.).
Maintains detailed and organized documentation of all program data. (i.e. contracts, schedules, budgets, support for actual shipments, actual costs, revenue and expense revisions).
Uses system to acquire actual costs of shipments and actual engineering expenses. Works with accounting to calculate, reconcile and complete journal entries to report results on percentage-of-completion basis.
Acts as a strong business partners to program managers to complete periodic status reviews, understand timetables and program terminology. Conducts regular monthly meetings with program managers to discuss financial status of programs and prepare monthly and annual program revenue ! and expense budgets. Communicates both verbally and in writing with sen! ior-level group engineering, production, and financial management on actual results and forecasts.
Provides proactive analysis and drives corrective action with the stakeholders in order to avoid surprises. Has a firm understanding of variances and can clearly articulate to program management and leadership team.
Ensures effective systems, procedures, and policies are maintained and in compliance with corporate requirements and SOX policies. Provides timely responses to audit requests and ensures no repeat audit findings.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Technical knowledge â" strong understanding of program accounting (ASC 605.35: Revenue Recognition - "Accounting for Performance of Construction-Type and Certain Production-Type Contracts) and financial analysis and planning (FPA); strong mathematical skills
Communication ! / presentation â" strong written and verbal communication skills for presentation of complex financial issues into credible understandable information
Analytical - ability to analyze, interprets, and communicates complex data in a clear and concise manner to all levels of the organization
Data management â" the ability to manage large volumes of complex data
Time management â" proven ability to effectively manage multiple priorities, often with demanding time constraints, in a fast paced environment.
Leadership â" proven ability to work as an effective business partner working in a matrix organization and providing support to multiple stakeholders

ED! UCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND QUALITIFICATIONS
A bachelors degree f! rom a 4 year university with an emphasis in Accounting or Finance; MBA or advanced degree in accounting or finance highly preferred
CPA and / or CMA highly preferred
Minimum 5-7 years related experience in a results focused Finance or Accounting role
Proficiency in all MS Office applications with expert knowledge of Excel
Aerospace Industry and Manufacturing background strongly preferred
Working knowledge of JD Edwards as well as Hyperion Enterprise & Essbase
