The primary responsibility of the Lead Medical Support Assistant (MSA) is to monitor and make work assignments. Provides input on performance, resolves daily workplace issues and maintains efficient workflow, ensuring coverage of all areas of responsibility; conducting ongoing reviews to ensure quality of work, ensuring accurate and timely scheduling of appointments; providing guidance to staff members to include changes in policies and procedures, distributing and balancing workload, creating and maintaining emp! loyee work schedules, orienting and providing on-the-job training for n! ew and current employees; ensuring all training requirements are met/ organizing the work structure of his/her assigned areas, and acting as liaison between MSA's and medical center staff in order to resolve day-to-day conflicts. The Lead MSA must be proficient in taking calls in all service queues; specialty, scheduling and pharmacy. The incumbent may assist in the training of new staff members on special projects. The incumbent will utilize medical terminology, to include abbreviations, as a regular part of their duties. The incumbent will utilize multiple computer software systems and will properly document notes in the patient's electronic medical record and relay messages and/or redirects calls as necessary. Keyboarding and the use of an automated appointment system will be a major function of the position. Good communication and interviewing skills are essential functions of this position. Meets the needs of the customers while supporting Medical Center and Service mi! ssions. Consistently communicates and treats customers (patients, visitors, volunteers, and all Medical Center staff) in a courteous, tactful, and respectful manner. Handles conflict and problems in dealing with the customer constructively and appropriately. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Experience: One year of experience directly related to the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically related to the position to be filled.

Advanced knowledge of the technical health care process as it relates to access to care.
Advanced knowledge of managing a clinic. This includes independently utilizing reference sources, decision making, and empowering the team to collaborate and resolve problems within a complex systems environment.
Advanced knowledge of policies and procedures associated with operational activities that affect the patient flow, patient care, and the revenue process.
Advanced knowledge of medical terminology due to the technical nature of language utilized by clinicians .
