Pharmacy Technician Instructor

Location: Renton Washington

Description: Renton Technical College is currently seeking to employ Pharmacy Technician Instructor right now, this position will be placed in Washington. More details about this position opportunity kindly read the description below. This Full-time, probationary (tenure-track) teaching position is scheduled for thirty hours/week of student contact and ten hours/week of professional activity. This in! structor will be responsible for teaching a state approved curriculum for the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) accredited Pharmacy Technician program. Some of the core courses in the curriculum include: pharmacology, top 200 drugs, prescriptions and record keeping, hospital procedures, pharmacy law and references, computer skills, and pharmacy calculations. This person will work to establish clinical training sites and supervise students during a mandatory internship in retail and hospital pharmacies. Other professional responsibilities include: maintaining office hours at times convent to the students, serving as an ad hoc member of the programs' advisory committee, participating in professional improvement activities, and other related duties as may be assigned by the Dean of Allied Health. This position is scheduled to begin upon selection.

Responsibilities:
Effectively teach the adopted curriculum for the Pharmacy Technician program. Prepare students for national board certification. Provide for the orderly conduct of program learning activities, individual student learning needs, and the appropriate evaluation of student progress towards attaining the learning objectives. Contribute to the development and updating of the curriculum as required by the college and industry needs. Assist to maintain program national accreditation. Maintain appropriate individual student records and submit them in a timely manner as required. Provide clinical instruction for students by: Coordinating with the clinical facility the orientation and scheduling of students. Supervising activities of students in the clinical facility. Evaluating student achievement in terms of clinical outcomes. Participate in recruiting and job placement activities for students. Actively participate in and develop a! nd maintain effective working relationships with the programs advisory committee, enhance advisory committee representation by developing close ties with the business community. Develop and maintain effective working relationships with students, and staff. Ability to work well within a team. Effectively participate in departmental and college committees and activities. Work independently, displaying problem-solving skills. Support the colleges' mission by creating a learning environment of mutual respect and fairness, while encouraging creative and critical thinking. Contribute to the appreciation of diversity and foster a climate of multicultural understanding. Develop a professional improvement plan and participate in improvement activities. Maintain regular attendance and punctuality. Perform other duties as assigned by the Dean of Allied Health.

Minimum Qualifications:
One year of formal education as a pharmacy technician or licensure as a pharmacist! .
At least three years of experience and National Board Certificati! on (CPhT) as a pharmacy technician or three years of experience as a licensed pharmacist.
Current Washington State Pharmacy Technician certification or licensure as a pharmacist.
Clinical hospital experience and advanced I.V. admixture skills are preferred.
Demonstrated ability to instruct students in the theory and practice of pharmacy technician. Teaching experience is preferred.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in written and orally using the English language.
Documentation of current immunization (CDC recommendations) and health requirements within 6 months of hire date is required.
Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
Have or acquire within 90 day of initial employment a current First Aid and CPR certification.
Demonstrated ability to relate to student and staff of varied ethnicity, ages, backgrounds and abilities, and a commitment to a culturally diverse environment.
