SPR is seeking an administrative support for the Recreation Division. This Unit is comprised of various programs and initiatives supporting Environmental Education and Experiential Outdoor Learning, implemented by staff from Discovery Park and Camp Long Environmental Learning Centers. This position is responsible for helping to oversee program budgets and data collection/management for the unit and assists programs to create and manage evaluative information to report progress made towards desired outcomes and benchmarks.

This is a regular benefitted half-time position working 20 hrs/week. This position will report to the Environmental Education Sustainability and Engagement Manager.


Job Responsibilities

Here is more about what you’ll be doing:

  • Monitors and manages the unit's program budgets; authorizes line-item expenditures; maintains accurate records of expenditures; and prepares financial status reports.

  • Work with Business Service Center (BSC) to create new contracts, import data to do analysis, and adapt software to best fit for program data collection.

  • Develops, coordinates, prepares, and submits the annual budget for the unit, including budgets with the Associated Recreation Council’s advisory councils.

  • Conducts research and data collection on special assignments and projects; coordinates the unit response to inquiries and proposals from other sections of the department or other departments.

  • Collects and analyzes outcome assessment data and prepares evaluative and year-end reports.

  • Coordinates and directs a variety of office management functions and activities, such as preparing purchase requests for supplies and equipment, and develops and implements office procedures.

  • Performs other related duties of a comparable level/type as assigned.


Qualifications

Required Qualifications: In addition to the skills and experience mentioned below, a successful applicant will have experience that reflects a commitment to creating fair and equitable outcomes and has:
Requires one year of experience in administrative analysis, budget administration or preparation, office management, personnel administration, program administration, as staff assistant, or in a closely related field; and a Bachelor's degree in business or public administration, or another closely related field (or a combination of education and/or training and/or experience that provides an equivalent background required to perform the work of the class).

Work Environment/Physical Demands
Work is performed in an office environment.

Desired Qualifications - You will be successful if you have the following experience, skills, and abilities:


  • Advanced software knowledge in Excel and use of pivot tables.
  • A background in data analysis using databases such as MS Access.
  • Knowledge of environmental and/or experiential education programming.
  • Certificate or training in program evaluation.
  • Successful experience working in a team environment.
    • Ability to communicate program goals and objectives to other divisions within the department and external stakeholders and advocation for the needs of the unit.
Special Working Conditions:
  • Work outdoors in all types of weather conditions, heavy traffic; entering confined spaces (such as maintenance chambers, holes and excavations).

The full salary range for this position is $35.05 to $40.86 per hour.
