The Family Outreach Manager implements and evaluates a comprehensive set of programs and services for WWU family! members.

About the Department: New Student Services - Family Outreach Position Responsibilities:
Executes event planning, program development and delivery, and evaluates for those components of family weekends overseen by New Student Services/Family Outreach for Fall Family Open House, and Back2Bellingham
Facilitates the university planning committees and community agencies that participate in programs for family members (examples: family weekend committees, scheduling with service/event providers)
Manages and coordinates the activities, outreach, communication and programming agenda of the WWU Parent Connection group
Serves as liaison with university departments and programs for the development and implementation of s! ervice initiatives for family members, In collaboration with o! ther office employees, receives and responds to family concerns, assessing situation and referring to appropriate university resources
Develops content for printed and electronic communication for WWU family members (examples: informational materials, Facebook updates and monthly e-newsletter to Parent Connection)
Develops program budgets for review by director and monitors expenditures for all aspects of family outreach and programming efforts
Executes shared sponsorship programs that support family outreach (i.e. donations for door prizes, scholarship raffle items)
Executes the ongoing evaluation and assessment of programming and service delivery efforts
Participates in general office activities, planning, professional development, telephone and written correspondence, and related tasks
Oversight and execution of Fall Family Open House and Back2Bellingham programs and affiliated planning committees to insure campus-wide participation in family even! ts
Develop and maintain close communication with internal stakeholders (WWU Foundation, affiliated offices, student organizations, faculty, staff, advisors etc.) and external stakeholders (Parent Connection, family members, community organizations and agencies, etc.) regarding family issues and emerging initiatives
Develop and maintain printed publications and web-based outreach and oversee the application of emerging technologies in informing family members about the policies, procedures and resources available at Western
Manage logistics associated with recruiting, communicating, supporting, scheduling and developing the Parent Connection; emphasis on managing the Parent Connection as a volunteer group to support the WWU mission
Determine fiscal resources required to support services and oversee the expenditure of funds
Develop goals and strategies for the ongoing development of services for family members
Develop, monitor, and evaluate activities !
Direct the implementation of effective communication via printed an! d electronic venues
Incorporate new technologies where appropriate
Work with university departments/programs to coordinate and/or develop initiatives supporting family members:
Make necessary adjustments to outreach activities as trends develop
Identify new opportunities and creative strategies for supporting the involvement of family members
Serve as office liaison with appropriate departments and committees
Develop coordinated effort with departments/programs for marketing and outreach
Oversee and develop program procedures and collaboration with other offices

Participate in general office activities:
Written and telephone correspondence
Group presentations and individual sessions related to family outreach as appropriate
Related duties as identified by the incumbent or assigned Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree
Minimum 2 years full-time professional experience planning and implementing events and ! programs within higher education or equivalent program planning experience
Demonstrated success in project management, program development, and managing multiple priorities
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, and decision-making skills Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with computer technology that supports program delivery including MSWord suite, Excel, and Access
Ability to represent Western to various external stakeholders
Ability to relate to and communicate effectively with internal stakeholders
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships
Ability to work with others and to support diversity
Willingness to do outreach and related evening and weekend work Academic Emphasis: N/A

Salary: New hires typically begin at $1606.50/month including an excellent benefits package
