Provides spiritual and emotional support to patients, family and staff; provides education both in the hospital a! nd in the community regarding spirituality, spiritual care and religious diversity; participates as part of interdisciplinary team to give holistic care.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master's degree in Theology, Pastoral Counseling or related field (e.g. Divinity or Ministry)
4+ units of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE)
1+ years’ healthcare chaplaincy or full-time pastoral experience (or equivalent combination of education and/or experience)
Ordination and/or endorsement by a recognized sponsoring religious body
Documentation of current endorsement or of good standing in accordance with the requirements of his/her own denomination or ecclesiastical body
Certified or certifiable within two years of hire by recognized chaplaincy organization such as Association of Professional Chaplains (APC), National Association of Catholic Chaplains (NACC), National Association of Jewish Chaplains (NAJC)
Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication ski! lls
Strong problem solving and counseling skills
Ability to recognize and interpret spiritual, emotional and psychological status of patients, families and staff
Familiarity with various religious beliefs
Ability to work under pressure
Basic understanding of ethics
Work requires ability to lift objects weighing 30 lbs or less
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience providing hospital, hospice or palliative care chaplaincy
