S/he will assist with elevating and maintaining the Red Lion Hotel Seattle guest service standards.

The Engineer I shall strive to provide exceptional service to both internal and external guests at all times. S/he will be responsible for exemplifying the Red Lion Hotel Seattle Culture as well as promoting Red Lion Hotel Seattle as both the Destination and Employer of Choice!
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Fix minor problems such as unclogging drains, changing light bulbs, patching and painting walls.
- Remove, replace, and/or repair defective electrical devices, lighting system, plumbing, and other hotel fixtures and equipment.
- Perform scheduled (preventative maintenance) as well as unscheduled maintenance to equipment, both portable and stationary, as assigned.
- Power wash garage area, front ( 5th Ave ) and back ( 4th Ave ) entrances of the hotel and alley way.
- Respond to maintenance calls (guest and in-house), prioritize them in accordance with urgency, and perform needed action to resolve the situation.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the shop and all designated engineering areas of responsibilities.
- Perform rust mitigation and apply protective coatings.
- Paint directional and cautionary markings in walkways and driveways.
- Remove snow and ice from walkways. Maintain snow removal log.
- Attend to botanical specimens as needed. Coordinate contacted landscaping services.
- Be vigilant for individuals who are not Guests and report their presence to Hotel Security
- Remove debris and rubbish from exterior public areas and garage.
Required Qualifications
EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Basic carpentry, electric and plumbing experience required
- Experience in light electrical repairs, basic heating and cooling, carpentry, plumbing, furniture, appliances and general household repairs to include preventative maintenance procedures
- Prior hospitality experience preferred
- Prior customer service experience preferred
- Knowledge of general maintenance procedures.
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Candidates must have a team player mentality and good English communication skills
- Ability to deal professionally, courteously and tactfully with the public and coworkers.
- Ability to communicate and develop an effective working relationship with fellow associates, managers, outside representatives and agencies.
- Must be a team player with a positive attitude
- Easy going and good attitude toward learning.
- 1 year experience working in the hotel industry.
- Must possess good organizational/time management skills.
- Excellent customer service skills are essential.
- Must be able to work days, evening weekends and holidays.
- Must have a working knowledge of janitorial supplies and materials utilized on various surfaces and in various locations throughout the hotel.
- Ability to work with chemicals such as cleaners and disinfectants.
- Must be able to work all scheduled shift including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions (rain, wind, snow, cold & heat); Must be able to stand & walk throughout the day, including on uneven surfaces; Must be able to frequently lift, push, pull & carry up to 25 lbs, and occasionally up to 75 lbs; Must be able to bend, squat, crawl, kneel & twist on an frequent basis, sometimes for prolonged periods; Must be able to climb ladders and climb into and out of mobile equipment on a frequent basis; · Must be able to perform simple grasping, squeezing, overhead reaching and repetitive hand & arm movements frequently, & fine manipulation occasionally.
