This position is responsible for storing the inventory of finished goods to ensure that at any time a pr! oduct can be picked up off the shelf and either sent out for use, or sent back to manufacturing to be redesigned, reworked or changed in any way. Further duties include, packaging, shipping and determining mode of transportation of the product. Incumbent should exhibit awareness and compliance with all areas of the Corporate Quality Manual that pertain to their position; should exercise good judgment and promote quality in both procedure and process. Understand and support Spacelabs Medicals mission, priorities and company values.
Responsibilities:
Receives finished goods from Quality Assurance and places in inventory while awaiting shipment to customer or rework in manufacturing area. Coordinates and completes necessary paperwork required to document shipments while ensuring that work is accomplished on schedule, paperwork is correct and routed through the proper channels. Ready shipment by following policies and procedures such as verifying record of g! oods, posting weight and determining shipping costs in order t! o send product to customers. Disassembles product to ready for packing and shipment, packages and ships products with accessories and miscellaneous items using proper packaging and shipping techniques. Interacts with Production Control to perform shipping process by approximate future monthly shipping orders to estimate quantity of packing and shipping materials will be needed. Consolidate orders to save on shipping charges and following verbal and/or written instructions to pack and ship to customer. Verify shipment order by visually (spot)checking item and matching shipping request. Determines mode of transportation by performing cost analysis (learn cost variances between companies by comparison) and tracking current transportation rates for the customer and company at the best optimal level of cost to suit both parties. Perform audit costs of billing charges to determine correct shipping route and orders to save the customer and company money while still providing the b! est service possible. Operate warehouse equipment such as power jacks, electric forklift, weight scale, electric box stapler, and electronic accounting system. Examine shipping orders to determine more cost-effective transportation modes or timing schedules. Tracks lost goods by interfacing with customer and Production Control to find items by following a request form, matching this to an original sales order, and interacting with person who initiated trace until lost item is found. Complete weekly physical inventory of finished goods and verify to Accounting System backlog. Pull finished goods inventories off shelves to be directed back to manufacturing for marriages, rework and other changes. Train, instruct and/or assist subordinates in shipping area by following policies and procedures. Identify and solve inventory problems by tracking inventory, examining transactions and interacting with other departments. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifi! cations:
Minimum job requirements for this job are to have at l! east some high school education, preferably a high school degree, for the purpose of performing basic math functions, reading and interpreting instructions, writing procedures and completing shipping forms. Specific experience in expediting finished goods is preferred by not required while at least twelve months experience in ware house functions is necessary. Ability to remain on feet for extended periods of time and work unusual hours on an overtime basis. A shipper must be able to lift 50 pounds to perform this job.
