The College of Business & Public Administration at Eastern Washington University invites applications for a full time Lecturer position in the Tribal Planning Program to begin ! September 2013.

Through the unique relations between EWU's urban planning programs and American Indian tribal governments in the region along with the Affiliated Tribes of Northwest Indians (ATNI), and the operation of the Northwest Tribal Technical Assistance Program, EWU has developed a curriculum in American Indian tribal planning at the graduate level to serve tribal government leaders and staff, American Indian students, and anyone interested in understanding tribal planning. The Tribal Planning Graduate Certificate Program is a 23 credit curriculum that can be part of the Masters in Urban & Regional Planning, or other graduate programs at EWU, or a stand-alone certificate.

This position will have an initial annual teaching load of approximately 24 credits involving both undergraduate and graduate level courses, as well as online teaching responsibilities. Position will have release time equivalent to 25% time to serve as the Administrative Coordinato! r for the Tribal Planning Programs, and for the Executive Trib! al Planning Certificate Program. Administrative duties include recruitment, admissions, advising and student counseling, supervision of graduate student research, coordinating promotional materials development, coordination of online Tribal Planning coursework and schedules.

Minimum Qualifications

:

Ph.D. In Urban Planning or related field, ! or a Juris Doctorate Degree plus a Masters in Urban and Regional Planning.

At least 5 years work experience as a practicing professional planner or tribal government employee

At least 1 year minimum teaching experience in an accredited Planning Program, with teaching experience at both the graduate and undergraduate level.

Experience in planning research, methods and techniques, comprehensive planning, community development and community facilities planning.

Demonstrated high degree of interest, ability and/or experience promoting cultural competency and/or diversity.

Preferred Qualifications

:

On-line course development and delivery experience.

Tribal program recruitment and advising.

Graduate student research experience.
