Mental Health Social Worker

Location: Toppenish Washington

Description: Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic is currently seeking to employ Mental Health Social Worker right now, this position will be placed in Washington. The position requires flexibility, strong assessment skills, strong intervention skills and the ability to blend social work practice with the overall fun! ctioning of the Maternity Support Services (MSS) health care team, in a limited time frame. Will develop assessments based on face to face interviews, collateral information and interviews from other team members or other social work staff who have interview the First Steps client. The MSS/PSW role on the First Steps Team is to provide brief, culturally relevant counseling interventions for First Steps clients. This role is vital to assisting the client for self-sufficiency and control over their lives and the raising of their children.

Qualifications

Education: Master’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, or relevant field; Bachelor degree in counseling, social work or marriage and family therapy, and 2 years post graduate experience not including internships or practicum.

Experience: Prior experience in a mental health or social service setting. Understanding of the psychological principals in learning and their application to tre! atment stages. Understanding of advanced evaluative techniques! of personality, academic, behavior and cognitive domains. Ability to synthesize and formulate the assessment data into a comprehensive treatment summary.

Licenses/Certificates/Registration: Any one of the following licenses are acceptable for this position: Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW), Licensed Advanced Social Worker (LASW), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LF), Licensed Psychologist (PY), Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate (LMHCA), Licensed Social Worker Associate Advanced (LSWAA), Licensed Social Worker Associate Independent Clinical (LSWAIC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associate (LMFTA),or Certified Counselor (CL); current Washington State driver’s license and proof of automobile liability insurance coverage; and a current First Aid/CPR card, or obtained within 45 days of hire.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Required: In designated bilingual position! s must demonstrate ability to communicate at level 10 on the ALTA language proficiency scale; effective oral and written communication skills; ability to form and sustain effective relationships with clients, team members and community providers; understanding of federal, state and county regulations as they pertain to social services; ability to manage time, resources and client caseload; knowledge of human growth and development, throughout the life-span which can be applied to a psychosocial assessment and intervention methods; knowledge of brief counseling techniques and crisis intervention; knowledge of pregnancy and post partum issues; ability to provide effective consultation; and the knowledge of poverty, family disorganization and health issues.
