MEOW Cat Rescue seeks a Volunteer Program Manager to coordinate the recruitment, selection, scheduling, and retention of the volunteers who staff shelter operations and who foster cats and kittens in their homes. They supervise and schedule the paid Shelter Caregivers who perform the morning feeding, medication, and cleaning duties. They work actively to coordinate MEOW’s outreach programs for fundraising and visibility. The Volunteer Program Manager must act in a professional manner, display a team attitude and approach, and be supportive of staff and volunteers.
Essential responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Recruiting, selecting, training, scheduling volunteers who work regular shifts in the shelter and those who staff special events
- Maintaining and updating databases and electronic volunteer and staff records
- Coordinating the Meet Your Match program for the shelter
- Participating in cooperative efforts with Volunteer Coordinators from other local animal rescue groups
- Supervising the paid Shelter Caregivers in the feeding, medication, assessment of cats and cleaning of the shelter
- Actively working with outreach volunteers and local organizations and businesses to plan and staff outreach activities, fundraising events, adoption events, and other special events.
- Other duties as assigned
Required:
- Experience in volunteer management
- Ability to prioritize and multi-task
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Desired:
- Experience in animal shelter operations
- Experience in animal handling (especially cat handling) in a shelter, veterinary, or other animal care facility
- Experience in staff supervision and training
- Experience following disinfecting and cleaning protocols and protocols for disease prevention
- Proficiency in Volgistics or other volunteer management software
The schedule will be Tuesday through Friday 10am to 6pm, with occasional adjustments to start/end times and days for meetings, events, and to overlap with staff and volunteers on Sundays and Mondays.
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $30,000.00 to $34,000.00 /year
Required experience:
