An opportunity exists for an Industrial Maintenance Mechanic at CertainTeed Gypsum Manufacturing Inc. in Seattle, Washington. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring safe, reliable and efficient maintenance of production equipment so as to meet operating standards and manufacturing needs. Working as part of a dynamic team, the successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of planned/unplanned maintenance. This position is in-scope and covered under the terms of Teamsters, Local 117.
CertainTeed Gypsum Inc. located in Seattle, Washington is a high spee! d plant manufacturing gypsum wallboard; producing 560 mmsf per! year. The plant equipment consist of large grinding mills, rock conveyor systems, gas fired dryers, transfer conveyors, pumps as well as mobile equipment. The plant also has a variety of electrical equipment including, Allen Bradley PLC's & VFD's, Danfoss drives, Modicon PLC's and Ethernet communications.
Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor your duties will include:
- Installing, modifying, adjusting, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repair of all plant equipment.
- Welding and Metal Fabrication.
- Repairing and troubleshooting all rotating and stationary equipment, such as motors and gearboxes.
- Troubleshooting and repairing hydraulics and pneumatic.
- Troubleshooting and repair of gas fired kilns
- Troubleshooting and repair basic electrical and HVAC problems.
- Operating of forklift.
- Ordering parts and seeking vendor help when needed.
- Working with and direc! t contractors.
- Coordinating with other trades on jobs.
- Must be able to work varying shifts or overtime if required.
- Providing regular, accurate and concise reporting (written and oral) within Plant Logs and work reports.
- Creating notifications for equipment problems, charge time to work orders and update accurate history for work performed within 7i (Computer Maintenance Management System).
- Working within the Safe Work Process and Permitting procedures in CertainTeed Gypsum Inc.
Certified Millwright or Maintenance Mechanic with two or more years experience in heavy industry doing maintenance work. Preference will be given to those with Maintenance Journeyman certification.
- Working knowledge conveyor systems.
- Must be able to work safely and effectively in a team environment, as well as with minimal supervision.
- Must demonstrate strong verbal and written communica! tion skills.
- Must be able to work in a dusty environment with ! varying temperatures (cold/hot), as well as to perform heavy lifting and other physical labor.
- Must be comfortable working at heights.
- Must be able to interpret mechanical drawings, specifications and diagrams.
- Must understand and use preventive and predictive maintenance systems and WCM tools.
- Must have basic computer skills, including the ability to learn/use the corporate CMMS (7i) software as well as be able send and retrieve email, access company web pages through the Internet and to use basic business software like MS Word and MS Excel.
- Previous experience with maintenance of gypsum production equipment is preferred.
- Successful applicants must provide proof of attaining a Grade 12 High School Diploma (GED accepted).
